Gun Contol:Media Bias

In this article titled Gun Contol:Media Bias we’re going to take a look at a couple of recent comments by political gun control advocates that could lead one to believe that MSM outlets may not be the unbiased investigators and disseminators of information they so often claim to be.

The truth is if you’re reading this article you already know that MSM is anything but unbiased. They are, one and all, owned by corporations with their own varied interests and agendas that often conflict with the free and honest reporting of the news.

Not unlike the consolidation of financial institutions into “too big to fail” entities MSM has also been consolidated into the hands of a very small few. These few have, time and time again, shown that they have few qualms with slanting reports, omitting them or taking sides on political issues when doing so would be of benefit to them.

Perhaps the most famous example of the lengths to which MSM will go to please their handlers and help further an agenda comes from comments made to a Bilderberg meeting in Baden, Germany in 1991 by David Rockefeller.

“We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years.”

“It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.”

In our recent article Confiscating Bank Savings:Legal Theft I pointed out how the Canadian government include a “bail-in” (ala Cyprus) clause for “systemically important banks” in it’s 2013 budget. Even now you’ll be hard pressed to find any MSM outlet writing about this.

It’s bad enough when media outlets choose to turn a blind-eye to news or events that might tend to negatively affect the agendas of their corporate masters but when they become cheerleaders for a certain political point of view, it becomes another matter entirely. While this has and does happen all too often it’s very rare they are openly praised for their efforts.

It is surely no secret that there was a substantial amount of inconsistency and conflict in the reports of witnesses and MSM coming from Sandy Hook. Many have speculated that the reason for the errors was a co-ordinated effort to purposely muddle and confuse the narrative to make investigation difficult. I wonder if the errors come from knowing they just don’t have to try that hard anymore to contrive just about any situation and have it be believed by an all too gullible population.

Maybe they’re just getting sloppy. Obama has pretty much had a free hand to do as he wishes and has chosen to use that will to keep Gitmo open, imprison Bradley Manning, authorize more and more drones at home and abroad along with the sanctioning of executions without trials for American citizens. And nary a whisper from those that elected and continue to support him. Fortunately for them their various efforts are not going unnoticed.

Pro-Gun Control Senator To CNN Anchor: ‘We Appreciate Your Support’

None of this is should come as a surprise. Tuesday, CNN came out of the closet with an open declaration that “The Most Trusted Name In News” would use two full days of programming as a propaganda push for legislation tightening background checks. CNN has been so good about keeping that promise that, this morning, a pro-gun control Senator thanked a CNN anchor for his support.

CNN Offices

On a recent episode of CNN’s “Starting Point,” anchors John Berman and Christine Roman hosted Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), one of the two senators responsible for the compromise legislation on background checks.

After what might accurately be termed a fawning exchange between the anchors and the Senator they wrap it up…

Berman: Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia, you’ve been working around the clock for a compromise deal. I think you have a very busy few weeks ahead of you still.

Manchin: We appreciate your support, too, this is very, very important.

“We appreciate your support, too.” Is he speaking of the support of the anchors? The network? Does the Senator not realize that media is there to report not support? Or does he simply see no reason to hide it?

Senator Manchin is not the only one out glad-handing the media for their efforts in promoting changes to current US gun laws, Vice President Joe Biden also let his feelings for his media lackeys show during a recent visit to MSNBC.

Biden: MSNBC Host Deserves Award

Vice President Joe Biden gave an interview to MSNBC’s Morning Joe on gun control and heaped praise on host Joe Scarborough saying that he and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg deserved rewards for changing the gun debate in America.

“Hey Joe, thank you. You have changed the debate in America. The two guys who deserve an award, if anything gets done around here, is you and Michael Bloomberg” Biden said.

To me, these public displays of gratitude for partisan efforts are indicative of a cockiness and complacency amongst the spin-doctors. It has been so long since anyone has been held to account for rampant cronyism, corruption and media bias it seems they no longer feel the need to hide it. My goodness, Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World (owned by Murdoch’s News Corp who also owns Fox News) was caught hacking the phone messages of various media notables in the UK and yet he’s allowed to not only continue directing his media empire but actually expand it within the US.

My hope is that examples like these become more gratuitous and blatant. So gratuitous and blatant that people have no choice but to notice and demand a change. Although, if they haven’t noticed by now, one wonders if they’re even able.
